Location privacy and chat sharing

Understand approximate discovery and locations you choose to send in chat.

Last reviewed

Discovery uses approximate location information. A location you deliberately send in chat can be precise. Consider what a recipient could learn before sharing a home, workplace, or current position.

Discovery and permissions

Location helps power nearby discovery and Right Now. You can review Chunkr’s location permission in your device settings. Reducing accuracy or denying access can affect nearby features.

Approximate displays are not a guarantee of anonymity. Other profile information or repeated observations can reveal more about where someone is.

Sharing a location in chat

The chat attachment options include location sharing. The Share Location picker lets you review the selected location before sending it. Check the map and destination carefully and share only with someone you trust.

Sending a location is optional. It is separate from the approximate location used for discovery.

Revoking permission afterward

Turning off device permission limits future access by the app. It does not retract a message already sent or remove copies, screenshots, or information a recipient has saved.

If you need to request removal of particular data, use the privacy request process. If someone uses location information to threaten or harass you, block and report them. Seek local emergency assistance if you are in immediate danger.

Read the Privacy Policy for the full location and retention terms. If the app cannot find your location, use the troubleshooting guide.
