Chunkr Privacy: What We Collect, Use, and Protect

Privacy claims should be specific enough to verify. This guide summarizes the current Chunkr Privacy Policy in plain language: what data the service handles, why it is needed, what other people can see, and what controls are available.

The policy—not this article—is the controlling document. If the two ever conflict, rely on the policy and email [email protected] so we can correct the summary.

The Short Version

Chunkr handles account, profile, communication, location, device, usage, support, and transaction-related data to operate a location-based social and dating app. Other members see profile information you choose to publish and approximate location context, not your exact coordinates.

Chunkr states that it does not sell personal data. It uses service providers for infrastructure, analytics, communications, safety, payments, attribution, and support. Messages are protected in transit and at rest but are not end-to-end encrypted, so authorized review may occur for safety, support, or legal reasons.

What Data Chunkr Collects

The exact data depends on which features you use. The current policy groups it into several practical categories.

Account and profile data

This can include your email address, authentication identifiers, username, display name, age or date of birth, pronouns, relationship preferences, profile text, photos, interests, and other information you choose to add.

Some profile fields may reveal sensitive information about sexual orientation, gender identity, health, or relationships. You control whether to add many of those fields, and public profile information is visible to other members according to product settings.

Messages and user content

Chunkr processes direct messages, media shared in chat, photos, reports, and other content needed to provide communication and moderation features.

Messages and attachments are encrypted in transit and protected using storage controls. They are not currently end-to-end encrypted. That boundary matters: content may be reviewed where necessary for moderation, safety, support, or legal compliance.

Location data

Location enables nearby profiles, maps, Right Now, hotspots, venue discovery, check-ins, and fraud prevention. Depending on permissions and use, Chunkr may handle GPS-derived location and location inferred from an IP address.

Other users should see approximate location or map placement rather than exact coordinates. Photo metadata may also be stripped to reduce the chance that an uploaded image exposes where it was taken. Read the Safety Policy for the practical controls and limits.

Device, log, and usage data

Like most online services, Chunkr processes device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash information, timestamps, and technical logs. These signals support reliability, troubleshooting, fraud detection, abuse prevention, and analytics.

Attribution data can also show how someone reached Chunkr, such as a campaign or store referral. The policy lists relevant providers and purposes rather than describing this telemetry as anonymous by default.

How Chunkr Uses Personal Data

The main purposes are to:

  • create and secure accounts
  • show profiles and provide nearby discovery
  • deliver messages, photos, check-ins, and other requested features
  • personalize and improve the service
  • detect spam, fraud, abuse, and policy violations
  • review reports and enforce safety rules
  • provide support and operational communications
  • meet legal and child-safety obligations
  • measure campaigns and product performance

These purposes require different data. A map needs location context; a report needs enough preserved evidence for moderation; an account-deletion request needs an account identifier. “Privacy-first” should mean explaining and constraining those uses, not pretending a location-based social app processes no sensitive information.

What Other Members Can See

Other people can see information you publish to your profile, content you send to them, and product signals designed for social discovery. That may include profile photos, biography, interests, check-ins, presence, or approximate distance and placement.

Visibility can change based on settings and the feature being used. Before posting sensitive information, ask whether you would be comfortable with another member saving or sharing it outside the app. Technical controls reduce risk but cannot control every recipient.

Service Providers and Advertising

Chunkr uses third-party providers to run the service. The current privacy policy names categories and specific vendors for hosting, database infrastructure, email, analytics, safety scanning, payments, attribution, and customer support.

The policy says Chunkr does not sell personal data and does not share sensitive profile fields with advertisers for targeting. It does describe advertising and attribution technologies, including conversion-related identifiers and events. That is more precise than saying the product collects no advertising data at all.

Review the full Privacy Policy for the current provider list and the data each provider may process.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on location and applicable law, you may be able to:

  • access personal data associated with your account
  • correct profile and account information
  • delete content or your account
  • object to or restrict some processing
  • withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
  • appeal certain privacy decisions

Account deletion starts a process; it does not necessarily remove every copy instantly. Safety evidence, transaction records, legal obligations, and backups can require limited retention. The Privacy Policy explains those boundaries.

Practical Privacy Steps

Even with platform controls, members should make deliberate choices:

  1. Share only the profile details needed for the interaction you want.
  2. Review location and visibility settings before using map features.
  3. Avoid sending a home, work, or routine location early in a conversation.
  4. Remove identifying details from photos when they are not necessary.
  5. Use block and report tools when behavior feels invasive or coercive.
  6. Move first meetings to a familiar public place and tell someone your plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Chunkr sell personal data?

The current Chunkr Privacy Policy states that Chunkr does not sell personal data. It does use service providers and attribution technologies to operate, secure, analyze, and market the service, with the categories and named providers described in the policy.

Are Chunkr messages end-to-end encrypted?

No. Messages and attachments are encrypted in transit and protected with storage controls, but end-to-end encryption is not currently implemented. Authorized review may occur when necessary for safety, moderation, legal compliance, or support.

Can other users see my exact location?

Chunkr's public policies state that other users see approximate location or map placement rather than exact coordinates. Any location-based social app still carries risk, so review visibility controls and avoid sharing a home or work address in a profile or early message.

What happens when I delete my Chunkr account?

Deletion removes or de-identifies account data according to Chunkr's retention process, but some information may remain temporarily in backups or be retained for safety, legal, fraud-prevention, or transaction requirements. The privacy policy gives the complete rules.

How do I make a privacy request?

Use the in-app account controls where available or contact [email protected]. Include enough information to identify the account and the right you want to exercise, but do not email passwords or other unnecessary sensitive information.

Bottom Line

Chunkr is a location-based gay social and dating app, so it handles sensitive information. The responsible privacy promise is not “we collect nothing.” It is to document what is collected, limit how it is used, protect it, show approximate rather than exact location to other members, provide meaningful controls, and state important limitations clearly.
